Walk with Aboriginal traditional owners and learn about coastal survival skills. Explore the ancient Daintree rainforest at Mossman Gorge. Venture along the 4WD Bloomfield track and gain an insight into Aboriginal community life. Discover the history of Cooktown and explore ancient Rock Art galleries with Aboriginal guides at Normanby Station.


DAY 1

Cairns / Port Douglas to Cape Tribulation

Departing form Cairns and Port Douglas travel along the picturesque coastline to Cooya Beach which is the traditional fishing grounds for the Kuku Yalanji . Join Indigenous Traditional Owners the Walker family on an interpretive coastal walk to discover traditional Aboriginal survival skills. Learn how to use a spear and collect bush food and medicine amongst the mangroves and tidal lagoons. 

Enjoy lunch at the sugar town of Mossman before travelling a short distance to the ancient Daintree rainforest at Mossman Gorge. Discover the flora and fauna of the World Heritage area before continuing north of the Daintree River to Cape Tribulation. Take an afternoon walk along the amazing tropical beach before having dinner in a rainforest setting.

Day 2 

Cape Tribulation to Cooktown

Travel north along the rugged 4WD Bloomfield Track to the Aboriginal community of Wujal Wujal.Walk with  Indigenous Traditional Owners to a sacred waterfall.Learn about how the Kuku Yalanji are connected with this sacred place and hear about life in an Aboriginal community.Visit the Bana Yirriji art gallery before heading to the historic Lions Den Hotel for lunch.

Visit the mysterious Black Mountain before arriving at the coastal hamlet of Cooktown.Discover the history of the region on a town tour. Enjoy an unforgettable sunset from Grassy Hill before settling into your resort style accommodation.

Day 3

Cooktown - Cairns / Port Douglas

Journey west to Normanby Station in Balnggarrrawarra country.. Discover rarely seen spiritual rock art galleries as you are guided by an Indigenous Traditional Owner. Learn how the Balnggarrawarra are keeping their culture alive and hear astonishing stories handed down the generations. Discover traditional bush food and medicine whilst enjoying morning tea amongst a bush setting.

From Normanby Station the journey returns to Cooktown for lunch. Explore some of Cooktown’s  historic buildings including the James Cook museum  before the return journey via the inland Mulligan Highway.


This 3 day cultural journey offers three unique and genuine Indigenous experiences with Aboriginal Traditional Owners on their homelands. It highlights the cultural diversity of the Bama with the backdrop of pristine tropical rainforest and  beaches,amazing waterfalls and ancient rock art galleries.
